  • Hello Scirra Forums,

i have had this idea some time before already but i guess i were too lazy ..

Well this time i started a complete wordpress download archive where i will host .capx files with informations a screenshot and a download link .

Theres already smth like this for MultimediaFusion2 Source files here http://www.castles-of-britain.com/mmf2projects.htm

So i want to start this for capx files <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

The idea behind this is simple. Supporting open source. Well heres the link to the page http://burningcake.com/?page_id=215

Yesn the thread title says "huge" and this is what i want to reach. A huge archive with the best open source C2 games.

If YOU want YOUR .capx to be listed there for others to download just drop me a link to your capx with your name and a screenshot at this mail :

  • Very nice! I've been meaning to organise my tutorial capx files for a while, in a similar format. Is there a way to display only specific author's content?

A side-note, something I've just seen: I wouldn't be comfortable submitting content for free to a site that accepts donations. Not that I'm against you making money to support server costs or basic admin, but I'm strongly against content aggregators that make profit from simply collecting other peoples' freely-available data. (N4G gets on my nerves, for example). Is there any way for contributors to be sure of where the donation money goes?

I havent recieved any donation yet since 2010 so i will just remove this button

EDIT : to answer your question, just click "Author" and the table will sort

  • And what about Scirra's Tutorial section "Capx Example" ?

Doesn't your website be a double that we could do without ? Sure it provides "more" sorting, but in the end it's spreading the informations out to another website instead of keeping all the possible resources in a single spot, isn't it ?

Well no. The scirra capx examples are for "EXAMPLES" and the website is for "Games" Source files.

Its completely different and better organized in a table.

thats my opinion, i wouldnt have started this if i havent thought about what you stated

  • Hi burningcake,

As I look at your links, I can tell that you should read up on "permalinks" (wordpress - dashboard > Settings).

Doing so will get rid of the "page-id=111" and replace it with a proper page name/title.

Also. You have a special page dedicated to inform visitors that all content on your site is subject to copyright????

I want to admit that I didn't bother reading the small print because I don't believe that this project will take off as they never do.

If you want to be successful, you need to start a quality repository of your own capx files and in time, others might maybe add to your collection.

    Good luck!

why sould i change my permalinks settings ? i dont see a reason.

Well the "imprint" page is important for a website hosted in germany. I cant remove it.

  • My mistake!

There is no reason to change your permalinks setting (from default to page/post title) and help search engines to actually find and index your page(s) properly.

  • Hi,

I feel like this is a good idea, but your execution and presentation was really flawed. Is there any interest in this sort've thing still? I could provide something with that functionality but much easier to navigate and a better visual presentation.

Anyone still have any interest in this? As a guy wanting to get into game development with my daughter, it's a thread that caught my eye because it *would* be handy. A lot of people are wanting to "make a game" as quick as they can. Often, that's buying or downloading a template, something that lets them at least easily show an alpha build/example of what they're going for and provide code to fiddle with.

Anyway, I like this idea, does anyone else still? Sorry to rain on your parade, OP, but the thread and site looked dead, so just thought I'd say what I thought and bring it back up. Seems like it could be a handy resource, done right.

the website is active and working. im sorry to not have enough time to code or search for a self uploading script and automatic adding the new capx to the list.

If you want to do something like this feel free to do.
