  • Sorry! <img src="smileys/smiley12.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> i just got a little too angry about his comparison

    So I just typed what came into my mind. <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    Well I do think Construct 2 is good. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    Sorry Again! <img src="smileys/smiley12.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Abraham you don't seem serious, so you liked C2 over Game Maker after of 2 months. Ironic.

  • Ignore him. He's pretty much lost all credibility with that bizarre outburst of his.

  • You know, I've had some success overcoming construct 2's limitations via the SDK and editing XML, so I think the "you cannot code in c2" argument is somewhat flawed.

I wish we had better integration capabilities with the SDK, though, it's annoying when you have an extension/behavior that depends on another extension/behavior, and the lack of control options in the IDE is sometimes frustrating (the image editor can't be fully customized by the object calling it).

Still, it is there and it gets the job done. Besides, it forces you to conform to a system, so any plugins you make are readily reusable in other places. You can actually code in raw javascript.

    No! No! I am serious!

I just said I like Construct 2! But I hadn't made a give with it yet!

So I just.... You know I am still working on game maker!

    AnD4D

Nope! I haven't lost all credibility with that bizarre outburst of mine!

I just thought I'd try out construct 2!

    Sheeseh!

  • wow!!! scirra should post this on the first page

    <img src="smileys/smiley42.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    welcome to c2

  • Well, I am more a artist than a coder.

Basic codes are fine but if a software like GM takes me forever to understand just its basic tutorials then GM looses my interests no matter how great this software can be.

C2 from other hand is fine.

I really like that it can produce same result with more than just one way so I can choose those that I understand.

Also GM seems to have a ridiculous license that restricts creativity in my opinion so I'm not really willing to spend neither money nor time on it.

If you are a coder and willing to spend huge amount of cash to learn for months a tool to create basic games then GM is worth a try.

I stick with C2 which keeps getting better and better and is damn worth the business license :)

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Construct 2 is great HTML5/Javascript development system, but lacking in case of 3rd party exporters. Anyway if someone prefers coding, then IMO he should try Unity than GameMaker.

  • Yes but GM is the limit for me!

I can't code everything! GM allows me to do most of the functions I ever wanted! For example, GM allows us to create an .exe of the game we are playing... I mean the level like blah blah!

Well I'm not sooooo good at GM! Check out the Game Maker Community!

Some say GM has no limits! It can make game in the way we want!

(I didn't type all this to make you guys into GM!)

But guys! Just give GM a try!

If you are not a good programmer so am I!

I don't know... I started GM when It was the summer vacation after the fifth grade! I didn't code! just those drag and drop actions!

Well... I gave GM a try and I loved it!

And gave C2 a try and I think they are both the same though....

But.... It would be better if construct 2 wont mix everything with the properties of the object! It's real confusing!

Well all i wanna say is just TRY gm! (Not forcing!)

I am not trying to make your interest go away from construct 2! K? ;D

  • I used gamemaker for years. I prefer C2.

  • Hey everyone , I am not saying this is bad or that is good , just telling my own Experiences. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    I have used

    Game Maker in year 2000.

    UDK in year 2012,

    Unity in year 2012,

There are so many other too.

I cannot decide what is the best for me so that at least I can make something, I have tried so much in UDK and Unity but I suck at programming skills and so I just get away from them.

In year 2013 April , I saw the Construct 2 on steam as our friend JeZLee saw, I was like finding some cheap games , just want to see the rates of the games and so on.

After that I gave a try to C2 and BOOM , I jumped out of my Chair , my PC was glowing like a treasure and I said yes I got it. WOW

So it's just the taste , I cannot program so I don't like those game engines in which you cannot do anything without programming skills. On the other hand C2 is different and you can do everything without programming skill.

It's just a matter of time and C2 will get much better and we all can see, Like every week there is a update, man I just get tired of downloading it but C2 team is so much hard working that they don't. Amazing and thanks Guys.

So the moral of the story :- After using C2 for some months now I can say that I can complete my game and other engines I just got hanged in there because I cannot program I am not saying that those engines are bad or something like this.

    Main reasons of using C2 are :-<img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    01. Cheaper than others.

    02. Easy to use.

    03. Don't Need programming Skills. (Happy Artists)

    04. Supportive Community (Users , Moderators and even Admins)

    05. Export to so many platforms and counting.

    06. Last but not the least it's getting better every week.

    Thanks in advanced. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    Bye bye take care. <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • <; I thought we were past threads like this. Use the tool that's best for you. Both have their advantages, C2 being user friendliness and ease of use. Frankly, GMS is the one with dozens and dozens of fully-functional published mobile, browser, and desktop games. Not C2.

  • All The other game dev programs stink, the only program I understand and love is C2 and from the first time i saw it till now, never chosen another program. I'm very loyal to this Engine.

  • All The other game dev programs stink

Actually, no they don't. They are all very capable if you learn how to use them. They may be more complicated, or challenging to use them, but they are all capable of creating top notch proffessional games, and because of their complexity and comprehensiveness most are capable of things C2 can't even dream of. C2 is easy to use, but less comprehensive than some of the others. That doesn't mean they stink, just that you don't have the patience nor the inclination to use them and like C2 better. But just because you like it better doesn't necessarily make it a better system.

  • All The other game dev programs stink

C'mon, that's taking it too far. Discussion of other tools is allowed on the forum, but please refrain from being insulting about it. Statements like that tend to offend and drive people away, and we want this to be a very welcoming community. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they're not good for other people.
