Anyone thing here think the forum should be locked to new users until they read the full manual?

There's tons of obvious questions like "How do I change animation" or "How do I import an object into multiple layouts".

That is not possible, because the manual is just in English right? so, who don't speak English how can ask some question here?

a lot of users use the principal forum to ask funny questions.... When there is a forum calls "Beginner's Questions"...

anyway, you are right... most of the users are new about everything (programming, etc...) who know some programming doesn't need to read a manual, maybe something but everything is in construct2... the moderetor have to move a easy question in a correct forum...

or maybe, make a new forum called "How to use Construct2 "

    Nope.

Them questions are in the "How do I ...." and "beginners questions" section ... so ... it's a bit of a 'duh' moment here if you ask me

    Wait .. whats this:

I think if the devs were to limit access the way you suggest, they would lose a lot of business. New users would get frustrated because they weren't getting the help they think they deserve and would jump ship.

Personally, I agree there are far too many questions being asked that would not be an issue after reading the manual and going through the beginners tutorials. There have been a few times I have said that to the OP and the response is usually something along the lines of "I don't have time to read through a bunch of tutorials." Of course we know that kind of thinking is a little backward. Reading for a couple hours could completely answer the majority of these beginner questions where posting in the forum may take hours to days to get a good solid answer. The OP is counting on someone else to do the work for them, not realizing we have just about as much time as they do.

In the end, if those of us who know how to use the product don't want to be bothered with these types of questions, there is a really easy way to avoid them. Just don't open the forum post.

Well, there's my daily rant. Good luck to everyone on your projects.

    Nope.

    Wait .. whats this:

    First off, besides you being an ass;

How do I make smooth transitions between layouts isn't something you'd find in the manual. Second, it's not exactly easy to do, there's a lot of complicated and easy to get wrong events when trying to do it.

I dare you to make a smooth perfect inter-layout transition that looks seamless as in the original NES Metroid that's easy enough to be understood by a complete beginner. I dare you.

As for How do I get my player to move to another layer & other stuf even "experienced" users that answered couldn't it right, which turned out to be setting the objects global.

I'm talking about the kind of questions such as "How do I change animation", things that can solved by just looking at actions.

Instead of insulting me, why don't you be contributive to the thread instead of being off topic. It's easy to insult, it's hard to think.

But I bet you know all about that.

    First off, besides you being an ass;

    .....

.... Instead of insulting me .....

Wait a minute ... who is doing the insulting here, please ...

I just stated the obvious ....

    and did so again

I kinda thought your topic insulting towards n00bies really, so I applied some of that expressed sarcasm back to you.

Or did you really want to have it programmed in the site that a new user has to have visited every manual page for an x duration of seconds before they could post in the forum ? ... again ... please

Do you know why so many users come here and use this tool ? perhaps because we have a nice community who helps almost any kind of new comer on their way.

Who's doing the insulting? Maybe the person who found it necessary to dig up ancient posts just to spread dirt on a thread post, which is fairly pathetic to be honest.

It's one thing for people who actually intend to use Construct 2.

Mostly it's people using the free edition who don't bother to read the manual or actually look at the engine, ask one question and then leave the site forever.

E.g. Looping animations, there's literally a button that says "Loop".

E.g. https://www.scirra.com/forum/how-do-i_t127747, you don't even need to know anything for this, its just add platform behaviour.

I don't see how hard it would be to unlock the forum after reading the manual or when you buy Construct 2, there's a gold medal achievement for it.

"Do you know why so many users come here and use this tool ? perhaps because we have a nice community who helps almost any kind of new comer on their way. "

Really? It wasn't because you can make games without any sort of programming and coding knowledge whatsoever?

Y'know, the stuff Scirra is using to market Construct 2 and Construct 3?

    Hmm, maybe I missed that.

There are no stupid questions, just stupid ways to reply to them.

I'll let you know when I've figured them all out.

Never said any mention of the questions being stupid, just really, really obvious.

As in "Read the action description in-editor" obvious.

Ha, this is not what I expected! I would like new users to need their first two posts to be checked by a moderator, because that's the only realistic way to reduce the spam...

But that isn't what this is about - I digress! Regarding noob questions, the how do I forum seems good as it is, IMO. Even if the answer to a question is a link to the manual, it serves its purpose quite well.

Maybe if there was a separate forum section for non-license owners (could help with all the muscle protein and energy drink spam as well).

The forum definitely does its job, no argument in that. Just wish users would bother to learn the material.

I remember one thread was "I've been educating myself on using Construct 2 for some time, but I can't figure out how to change animations."

    Locking and moving this topic.

Not only is it being posted obviously in the wrong forum but the OP's author acts entitled and smartass as in most in his posts and doesn't like when his own sarcasm is returned in his face and starts inflammatory comments and directed insults.

We don't accept such a conduct in our forums so Nesteris, look at your own self before posting from now on.

I'm really getting tired of your comments which bring nothing but bad mood and are, most of the time, not constructive at all.
