  • Hi everyone. I've recently started a project for a 2D Metroidvania-esk game of which I will be the programmer.

However before throwing myself into the woodwork, I wanted to do enough research in order to be 100% certain of the software I would be using.

Since you guys here are experienced, could you tell me if Construct2 is a great solution for:

    • A 2D Metroidvania-esk game.
    • Making a game with a Camera that follows the character through lenghty areas that are not 'room by room' ( an example of what I want would be: a long corridor with the camera panning left or right instead of having to go into a whole other room).
    • A game to be played on PC and / or mobile devices.

From what I've seen Construct2 looks quite amazing and I wanted to know more about it.

    Thank you.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I'm working on a similar type of game and so far C2 has been amazing. For a non-programmer some stuff can be daunting but not impossible. A big plus is the

community that is always really helpful.

    Good luck!

  • This would absolutely work for that type of game.. in fact that is the type of game I feel construct is best made for (debatable though). I haven't published anything mobile yet but I have heard that can be a hassle especially when you are trying to integrate ads/IAPs but I am sure this is somewhat of a hassle no matter how you are building your game and it has been done successfully through Construct.

  • Construct 2 is definitely a good choice for what you need.
