  • I don't think any of us are in a position to advise Rikus on how to run his site - he is absolutely right in that we should be concentrating on what games we're making.

The reason Clickteam should retract their endorsement of that demo (ie. take it off the front page) is not because of the 'wrongdoing' (nothing in actual fact has been done wrong, just poor ethics) - it's that endorsing it completely unweaves their whole argument when they were making legal threats against me. From now on, if anyone asks me about the legal threats, I can (and will) just say it was a blatant frivolous baseless threat, because they don't even play by their own rules, and I shall direct them to compare those silly little tech demos for themselves. So for them, they'd be stupid not to! If they leave it up, fine by me

This has nothing to do with the Daily Click or their policies.

  • They? As far as I know it was made by one person?

Minor point, but it does list 3 people under "credits."

MMF 2 should be looked at as beta too, since the HWA update is most comparable, and is still unfinished.

  • Ghost Hunter becomes a genre of classic game design.

They should be sued! Its the same name! XDDDD

  • Oh doppel ...

Nobody said shooting ghosts was the issue ...

  • Until now i've used both mmf and construct, and i've liked and used both communitys. This showed me who's the bad guys. The whole thing sickens me!

And SPHAX!!! It would be something else if someone else just made it for fun!

  • Well let's face it, the "original" scirra ghost hunter demo isn't exactly an original concept, its been done loads of times before in games... and Clickteam did not make this demo. Sphax did- one person, on his own with the help of a graphics dude.

No, Sphax provided the pixel shaders, another person did the artwork and yet another person made the demo. Sphax submit it to TDC. Read the post again.

And yes, it is a copy of Ashley's demo ... not because of ghosts, shooting, effects ... none of that. It is because it looks almost identical to it.

  • Oh well? So they just wanted to say "hey, we can do this too."

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • So if I said "Hey, I can do that too", in regards to making a game creation tool, why do I get letters, phonecalls and emails about it?

  • Probably because MMF is their livelihood XD

But I think the competition will help. It is interesting that Clickteam have posted more updates since Construct's appearance than ever before.

Because when Construct is released then other product (censored for the protection of your virgin eyes) might lose money.

    $$$ CHA-CHING $$$

Hehe, nothing like The Fear to motivate someone.

  • Hmm... i can't really figure it out.. Wait, i got it! They're lousy cowards who's afraid of losing all of their customers. Therefor they try to stop you from creating a better product, and they try to stop your demo from getting attention.

But seriously now. My real theory is... ehm... i can't actually come up with a better theory.

  • ^^^ No, that sounds about right.

  • Well, the question was kind of rhetorical.

They obviously don't want their own users to know Construct exists. Actions speak louder than words - would they care enough to edit people's posts if they weren't afraid of Construct?

Throwing yet more irony in to this, GameBuilder.info was set up by Clickteam seemingly to list all their competitors' tools (why not throw themselves to the top of the list, too?), perhaps to try to appear even-handed. Except Construct. So it's not as if they're afraid of anyone mentioning any competitor. Just me...

There's a few more rhetoricals for you
