I was just trying out some methods to do lighting without webgl, and this is where I am at.
Any opinions? It's obviously not as good as using shaders, but I like it.

He's using texture mask to overlay and 2 lights would make it dynamic scale and movement, i doubt how he did it about the lights.
Yeah, that's correct. I will add the capx to the OP :)
The mask is easy to make in Photoshop if you base your selection on the greyscale, with feathering.
