How do I make simon style game with audio instead of images

  • Not sure if this is even possible from what I've been reading but here goes.

    In the vein of the Simon game but with audio instead. I want to have between 1 and 10 sounds play in a random order. On the layout I will have 10 images showing and would like to have it so the user has to tap the images (which will be moving) in the order that the audio files were played. If they get it wrong they start over, if they get it right they move to the next level.

    I built a static version that I could use drop boxes to make it happen but would prefer to have it so that they can be just tapped instead.

  • If it helps I can post a capx of the static version I can or even the files in use.

  • If you have a solutions for static objects, you have also a solutions for moving objects. Just move your static objects ?

    Sorry, my meaning was that i have static pages with moving objects on them already that I used for the drop and drag version. My issue is that I want to be able use touch object to destroy but have them be destroyed in the same order as the sounds are played. for example. order of sounds played 1. cat 2. dog 3. cow 4. horse.... so I want to force the user to click the images in the same order cat, dog, cow, horse.

  • Are they instances of the same object ?

  • Currently, yes. I tried Families as well as singular objects. I'm reasonably new to some of the logic used in construct but loving it as well for other things that would take forever to code in other ways.

  • That is interesting. It's not quite what I was thinking but it's a pretty cool take on the idea.

    I was hoping to just have "x" number of sounds play then show the images moving around and maybe bouncing off of each other then clicking on them in order. Is it possible to make them move and to set the number shown to say 3 for one layout then on another have the number set to 5 and to have them still parse through all 8 images in the shuffle? I'm going to through this tomorrow to see if I can understand it better.

    Player must tap them in that order.

I was asking questions because I am not at the level where I understood all of what you did and because my title says that I wanted to use audio instead of images for the first part of the sequence. I do appreciate your help and I am going to work on it today to see if I can understand what you've done. Thanks

    Thanks again, It took some time and there is still some stuff I need to figure out but I was able to do what I needed to do and learn a whole bunch in the process.

    I have 99% of it sorted out. I can't seem to figure out how to use one dictionary on multiple layouts so I can have sets of say 3 that use (layout 1) Dictionary items 0-2

    (layout 2) Dictionary items 3-5

    (layout 3) Dictionary items 6-8

    I just added additional Dictionary's and cloned the objects and changed their animation order for the other layouts. Thanks again, much appreciated.
