  • Hello everyone,

For my new game i want that the player can switch the armor etc. My problems are:

    • must i make all animations new for just for example a head or shoes or is there are more simple slolution. (Your experience)
    • i also want to have different weapons. My problem is not the programming. My problem is that if a player walks with different weapons in his hand, must i make all animation for tge weapon new. (Your ways to do this)

    Thanks

  • If you are serious about this project save up and get Spriter (https://brashmonkey.com/). Learn it and love it. It will make what you want to do a breeze and Construct 2 (and I am sure 3) have plug-ins for it as well.

However, if you are looking for "on the cheap" you can always simply use the Pin behavior to pin anything to your character. You might need to adjust the art to fit right and maybe adjust the z-order to make guns below hands but it is doable.

Thank you for the answer. Sure im serious about this project. The problem is that i want to make many different armors and so on... i will talk to my designer... i just searched for a maybe a simple way to do that. Yes pin behavior is a little bit simple... But if you need more than 20x the same animation for standard, with green shoes, with green shoes and bow... Do you do it with many animation or just with pin?

  • Spriter would allow you to swap any number of armors or weapons on the fly with minimal animating beyond the initial. If I was attempting what is sounds like you are I would definitely use a program like it.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • This tutorial might help. Unfortunately the creator doesn't go over it on the page, you'll have to examine it by yourself. There are probably other ways to create a multiple clothes and armor effect.

Looking at the tutorial, it would seem you could simply color swap pants, armor, etc or create entirely new pieces of artwork for each, all within C2.
