Poll? How many people use Construct 2 vs. Construct 3?

  • > i never use c3... c2 for life but sadly i stop use it an move to other software

    so not for life then?

I think he mean't using these two engine wise not using only c2 for life XD

  • I use C2, mainly for prototypes and small experimental games. I already pay a yearly subscription for Unity and don't see the added value in C3 for my purposes.

  • Only use C3 nowadays. Mainly because i hop a lot between Mac and PC, and C3 runs good on both, and a lot of new nice features. And can access my projects from everywhere.

I don't mind subscription model, it's not really expensive, and feels like a good way to support continued development of the software.

  • I use Construct 2

  • I use Construct 3. I did mainly use Construct 2 and still have it but with some of the latest projects I have been working on, the features that Construct 3 has like the tween behaviour and tile movement behaviour makes things a lot easier.

I also like the convenience of Construct 3 - being able to just open any computer and, even with the desktop version, open your project and not have to worry about installing or updating the program anywhere else.

I don't like the idea of having to pay for a subscription, especially when it costs $150 AUD per year, it's a bit much for this kind of thing and they could have toned that down a bit, but this is the product they are now supporting because if I run into a bug with Construct where it crashes with something I need, I know I can just report it and they fix it, but if I run into a bug with Construct 2, it will not get fixed for ages.

    Facts LukeNecklace

  • C2 is in its maturity. New bugs are going to be from updates, or from user misunderstanding.

    Latest release:29th of April.

Then if you check new bug reports not very many seem to be filed properly.

  • C3 all the way for me. Loved C2, now I love C3.

  • I've moved on to Construct 3. Slowly but surely, I've been porting my C2 work to C3.

It's annoying to remove the plugins, but it doesn't fully break my games.

Same here. It was very hard last year, since C3 was lacking some important plugins, but now its feasible thanks to some plugin developers that ported the most important plugins.

  • Using Construct 2 the most and Construct 3 casually. But I've moved to Unity since 2017 and rarely use Construct these days.

Hey I was wondering if you have used a plugin called play maker for unity and if you have how was your experience with it? I really want to try it out as it looks really interesting.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Used it before to make my first Unity prototype, it's OK I guess.

  • Construct 3. Run's a lot faster then Construct 2 (Tilemaps etc.)... and i think (for me), it's not expensive. :)
