Feature Request: Action - Is Colliding With

  • I noticed that there's an overlap action, and a "On Collision With" but there's no continuous colliding action.

    @Ashley

    Can you make a "Is Colliding With" action that checks is objects are continuously colliding with each other? Currently the way to get around this is to make an "OR" event using "Overlapping at offset" events 1 pixel in every directly

  • How about just plain overlapping?

  • I'm using 8-bit graphics with an in-game resolution of 256x224, it leaves a gap that's pretty visible.

    Overlapping at offset of 1px might work.

    For some reason it leaves a 1px gap, no idea why.

    It does sometimes, i know.

  • What you describe is exactly what "Is overlapping" is for. If you have a problem with "Is overlapping", it would probably be worth investigating that separately before requesting a new feature.

    There is a bug that comes up at random that adds extra frame of 1px width to the sprite ( at least that's how it looks like; sometimes in image editor from which you can't remove it, and other times at runtime) but not to collision mask. It's impossible to reproduce since it's... random.

    +1

    Also, they're both solid objects, so they can't overlap. "Is Overlapping at offset" produces random gaps for no reason.

    Would it really be that hard to make the action anyway? Doesn't the engine already check collisions for everything?

  • Bugs aren't reasons to suggest new features. You should file a bug report following all the guidelines for it to be investigated properly. Step 1 will be to find a reliable way to reproduce it in a new project, too - otherwise I can't prove that it's not your other events that are adding a gap by accident.
